Birdy Bird

My mom has these little birds that are nesting in the range of her stove. I know that sounds weird, but you can hear them. They aren't inside the house or anything, it's like they live in the exhaust pipe system. (you can tell how much I know about home construction...nada) Anyway, you can hear these little babies chirp when you're in the kitchen. It's sweet. That side of birds I like. The birds I don't like are the ones that traumatized me as a child, Hitchcock's version. Ever since I've been a little 'on the fence' (pun intended) about how I feel about birds/birds in nature/birds as pets/bird motifs/bird wallpaper/bird related things like nests/bird anything. Help me decide, are birds hot or not?

Bird Art
When I was in India, I fell in love with some original botanical drawings of exotic birds and fruit of India. They were painted by British artist James Forbes around 1813. On a backpackers budget they were slightly out of our price range, but I'm still thinking about them today!

Humm... what do you think? Birds cool or uncool?

I vote cool. I still like them (still love bird wallpaper, bird feathers, sweet bird illustrations... and vintage botanicals with birds would be fabulous!)

I must admit, I've never given birds as pets a fair shake. Only recently did I realize they are cute and sweet pets. Still not sure they would be the right pet for me, but I feel bad for underestimating their pet abilities.

I love bird pets when I'm shopping in Singapore or Hong Kong (or even here in Houston there are some) and there are exotic birds in cages at an antique store. It's magical and pretty, and makes the store seem so fancy. But their constant chirping and those little chips and their gross food might make me go nuts. My mom is not fussed at all about the birds that live in her walls! But I did sorta freak out the first time I heard them too!

They're not for me - I've always been kind of afraid of birds. Kind of like clowns. And I have no idea why. The botanical drawing sounds awesome though. When I was in India I didn't see any of those but I did get a miniature painting which I absolutely love.
