Next 5 Countries to Visit

Image: Flickr
I'm laughing at myself right now. Since we've been in the process of moving, I've been going through piles and boxes and suitcases of stuff. I came across one of my notebooks I took on our trip around the world. Jotted down on one of the pages I had a list: Top 5 Countries to Visit, underlined about 4 times. I can remember making this list now when we were in India. India used to be #1 on this list. Glad I've been able to scratch it off, Egypt too. Anyway, keep in mind, when we were on our 5 month trip, we had planned out every country we were going to and all of our flights were booked, so when I made this list, I knew we weren't hitting any of the following countries during that time when we were on the road, this was a list I was making for the future. I thought I'd share it with you, in order of Most Eager to Visit to Least of the Most Eager to Visit.

Japan

Brazil

Turkey

Greece

Morocco

Cambodia

Argentina

Denmark

Spain

Italy

The reason I'm laughing at myself, because I specifically wrote "5". But I obviously couldn't stop at 5, I kept going till I reached 10. I'm relentless. Always. Anyway, what about you? What are your top 5? or 10? Now that I'm looking at this list, I'd also like to add: Lebanon, Jordan and Tibet. Thanks.

I often travel to Japan for work. It's one of my most favorite places in the world--which surprises me. I would have never thought I could love it as much as Europe. If you ever get a chance to go, let me know...

I am sorta obsessed with Japan, but have never been! I will definitely tell you if I go!! I love Japanese textiles! And the food, and the art..all of it!

seriously I don't think there's enough space on this comment box to begin. Let's see....

Well I'm doing Bali (Indonesia) in Sept/Oct and I think, fingers crossed, we're hitting India in March. That's my #1 at the moment. We're also planning on doing a weekend in Cambodia at some point. So here are my other favs:

Morocco

Uzbekistan (there are a few textile factories high on my list to visit here. Famous for ikat)

Japan

New Zealand

east coast of Malaysia

Italy (I've spent my fair share of time in Italy: Florence, Rome, Milan...but ALL for work. I want to go back with JJ and eat/drink my way through this country. Gorgeous)

Seriously I could drone on and on and on and on....

Chris!!! Costa Rica? Come to Mitch's wedding next May with us maybe!!! Iceland is nuts, Allen Merrill just went, and your cousin Mike has awesome photos from his trip there too. I want to knock out some of these countries with YOU & EL! xx

Courtney, living in KL is going to help you knock out your list too! SO exciting about Bali & India! Bali is the absolute best. I wouldn't mind putting Uzbekistan on mine too, or Syria for rugs ;)

Red.Door.Read....COME BACK! How I've missed you! I gotta get to Japan! :)

My serious case of wanderlust would prevent me from even trying to contain it into one list! However, lately, I'm enthralled with Chile… I’m dying to go. I also have a constant yearning to return to Italy!

Meg - my list is pretty much exactly the same as yours. And even though Lebanon is not on my list, I do want to go there and found flights to Beirut the other day for about US$80 each!

Mine are:
Italy (cross that off Sep)
Spain (for the food and the buildings)
Scotland (so I can annoy Tim with my stories about how cool it is)
Japan (awesome paper, food, cherry blossoms and mini cute things)
Turkey (obsessed with Istanbul)
Brazil (so I can learn beach soccer)
Greece (so I can go on a yacht around the islands and learn how to make olive oil - not on the yacht, obviously)
Costa Rica (because Chris wants to go there badly and I'm a copy cat)
