Outta Town

Tomorrow I'm headed outta town for a much needed vacation. I am packed and ready, it's actually a miracle I'm ready the night before a flight, especially an international one. I'm usually slightly anxious and stay up all night. It's been 17 long months since I've had my passport stamped and I'm ready ready ready... I'm headed to this country:
Neeeeew Zealand. It's amazing. My sweet husband is from this sweet sweet beautiful country. I'm not going to talk to much about it because I don't like to give people any ideas about visiting there. I like keeping it the worlds best kept secret. So... I will be away for the next 16 days. Laughing a lot, drinking a lot of Marlborough's Sav Blanc, and listening to some classic Kiwi accents. I'll say hi to Bret & Jermaine for you. It's going to be marvelous. I may touch base, I may not, we'll see how things go. Of course I don't have any cool guest blogger lined up. Sorry, I'm last minute and unorganized like that. I'll miss you, until then...Ki Ora Aotearoa!

The Kitchen

It's lunch time. I'm kinda hungry. For some reason I just really feel like going to The Kitchen for lunch. Unfortunately that isn't going to happen today. I'd have to get on a 3 hour flight to Denver and then drive up to Boulder in order for that to happen. For now I'll rock on my front porch swing and tell you a little bit about this hip lunch spot.
The menu changes daily. It's all locally grown organic ingredients. It's a 'community bistro'. They do these family style menus where it's all dishes you share at your table. Upstairs is a wine and beer lounge. The perfect place for 5pm. The restaurant is powered 100% by wind energy. They recycle and use biodegradable materials. Isn't it lovely?

I kinda feel like having this: ...with a glass of wine of course. If you're in Boulder, stop by The Kitchen, you won't be sorry!

KL's Cute Digs

My sister's little apartment is turning out so cute! Love it. I'm dying to get my grubby little paws on those rental window treatments, but we'll get there. My fave bamboo blinds from Target have been off line for about 8 months. Hello, earth to Target..please bring those $37.99 blinds back, Kate needs them. Thanks. Anyway, time look closely at those turtle shells on that bench. The small guy was a gift from me. The other one we bought together. Oh man, I owe my readers a big long blog post all about my Mom (Miss Mendi), Kate and my obsession with stinky ole turtle shells...I need to hang mine up still, but until then...you can check Miss KL out here and here:
She only posts her own photographs. She's cool like that, I like it.

One of my best friends is a popstar. Yep. Just emerging on the scene. Her name is Kyrah. She lives in London. She has followed her dream since the day I met her. I love that. You can watch her new video here.

Meet Kyrah!!!

I hope she doesn't forget me when she needs to decorate her Notting Hill townhouse, Beverly Hills mansion and Balinese retreat!!! Love you K~!

Life Through a Lens

Watched this film last night. HIGHLY recommended. I realize I'm a little late to the party and this film has been out for some time now. However, Annie Leibovitz is truly amazing and I enjoyed every second of getting to know her and her work better. Her involvement in pop culture, politics and all events of recent history is incredible. I had no idea this photo of John and Yoko was taken hours before John was murdered.
One of my favorites...Susan Sontag in Petra, Jordan. Beautiful.

I'm really wanting to invest in a nice camera now...

You Want It, I Got It

Just found an incredible local source for custom lucite ANYTHING. Let's design something and have it made. Call me. I'm thinking about making some type of magazine holder/rack to manage the insanity that is my magazine mess.

Glass Bottles

Here's the mission: I want to transfer all of my products that are in plastic bottles, to cool looking glass ones. It's a mission, kinda a crazy/unnecessary one. I love the neat look of glass bottles that are unmarked all lined up. I've only started in my bathroom and kitchen. I found these at Ikea and use them in my bathroom. I use the pump for face soap (cetaphil for life) and the stopper one holds bubble bath. I need more for shampoo etc. My issue with these is that you have to buy that set to get those two bottles. I really love the pump and that greenish tint. I need some help finding some other larger ones. Does anyone have a good source for glass bottles? I like these with that little screw lid. But I think I need a pretty big one to hold my laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent!
I have this one on my kitchen sink with dish soap and I'm thinking about getting another couple for olive oil and vinegar:

Again, any sources would be greatly appreciated! I might try our local kitchen/restaurant wholesale place near my house...I'll let you know if I hit the jackpot there!

Bamboo Makeup Brushes

These are the chicest things ever. I'm going to get some. They would look really cute sitting in a beaker on my bathroom counter. Available at Target. Discovered at HB.

Hi There.

I realize I have been MIA. My mom called me last week and said, "I know how busy you are because you haven't even blogged." True.
The reason for my non stop insanity? Going up to Round Top two weeks ago four different times was over the top. When you're out of the office for four days, you miss a lot of emails and phone calls. Then last week was my last week working part time for a big design firm. Making the decision to leave was difficult and nerve wracking. I couldn't concentrate on anything else, it consumed my every thought. Oh and my fun in laws were here over the weekend. We ate here, HIGHLY recommended to my Houston peeps. Amazing!

So over the next few weeks I'll be in an out until I get on my feet and catch up with myself a little bit. This week is my first week working 100% for myself. It's really fun so far, but also busy busy. I can't wait to show you some before and afters of what I'm working on. Oh, and I'm headed to Nola and Bama for a long weekend. There will definitely be some goodness happening over there to report! In the mean time I'll leave you with this image. I love those window mirrors.
